I visited the Hollywood walk of fame for the first time last week. Being new to Southern California, it seemed like a “must see.” As I looked at the names and all they had accomplished, I thought to myself that the only real difference between them and you is that they happened to be famous. Each of us deserves to achieve our own “star” — the remembrance of the unique mark you made on the world just by being you.

As I thought about those famous actors, I wondered at what moment they found the courage to pursue the life they truly wanted. I wondered what fears came up, and how the people who loved them reacted – were they supportive? Did they have a mentor who encouraged them? Did they get a nudge from deep within that they chose to follow, when taking the safe route might have seemed much easier? What “monsters” came up for them — it all looks so easy, right? I’m sure it was anything but.

“How many people out there have huge dreams and great gifts but have yet to find the confidence and courage within to realize them?”

“How many of us at some point in our life was told that we were not good enough , smart enough, talented enough, had the right resources and so on and therefore would never accomplish our goals?”

“How many of us believe that there are so many other people out there doing what we desire, that there isn’t enough room for us to shine or enough opportunity?”
