Reflections on the Crisis in Japan
Friday night I was twittering away when I saw I post saying something like “I’m on top of the ____ building at ____ and ____.” I didn’t think anything of it until I woke the next morning and realized that a massive earthquake had hit Japan and that the tweet I had read was a desperate plea for rescue from one of the survivors.
As the days progressed and the threats of nuclear radiation increased, I just kept thinking “once again, Mother Nature is giving us a warning to wake up and change our ways.” After abusing our planet and each other long enough we are now experiencing the consequences.
As a side note though… in no way am I blaming anyone in Japan. Those people are suffering and do not need guilt or judgment. I am simply saying that although earthquakes are a common occurrence of life, I do feel that the universe gives us signs in order to propel us to another vibration.
I also have been thinking that if that earthquake had hit California, as most of my friends and I live within miles of the beach, we would all be dead. Talk about having to count your blessings instead of sheep! It is definitely a call to spend time every day finding gratitude and sharing that with our loved ones… and not just when we get a ‘wake up’ call in our lives. Really make it a habit if you aren’t already.
Over the last few years we have been facing one crisis after the other…. Which either puts us into fear and survival to take care of ourselves or it forces us to take a hard look at ourselves, choose to grow and make a difference.
My upcoming red carpet dreaming tour is all about shifting the world in a positive way – to inspire you to find your gifts (what makes you a superstar) and to use them to make yourself happy while giving back to the world.
What I hear from so many people is that they want to help but can’t because of their own situation. I understand this completely but there ARE small but significant ways to make a difference.
Here are some ideas:
• Smile at the person in the supermarket who seems sad.
• Practice being present so you can choose to come from a place of love rather than your ego and fear when dealing with people.
• Catch yourself when you are gossiping/being judgmental about someone, stop and remind yourself that until you walk in their shoes, you just don’t know.
• Arrange all your errands in one afternoon so you are using less gas.
• Take time to do something nurturing for YOU so you have the energy to give back (rather than giving from exhaustion, resentment, anger, etc)
What are YOUR ideas? Let’s get a conversation going. Please post in our comments!
And while we are talking about gratitude, I want to take a moment and thank all of you that have contributed to our movement – “The Red Carpet Dreaming Tour.” Below is a list of all the wonderful people who have joined the cause! And those who chose to be anonymous, we thank you too.
