Yippee! Here is another episode of my new web TV show… Cindy Uncorked!
What if you had to get rid of all your stuff? What is most important to you in the world that you had to keep?
I moved from L.A. to Toronto last month and decided to donate the majority of my possessions… so I had to decide what was most important to me and I could only bring what would fit in my trunk….
What goes in there will tell us a lot about who you are, your values and way of being in this world.
It is time for YOU to get UNCORKED and share your thoughts… would love to know what you would put in your trunk.
Here I am singing “Una Voce Poco Fa” from the Barber of Seville at my “Red Carpet Dreaming” Fundraiser for the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness in Toronto, Canada on May 27th, 2011.
For a little laugh, check out the wardrobe malfunction at 42 seconds. Oops!
So if you have been following my work for a bit, you are probably thinking… “She sings Opera?” – yup! For years I trained towards my operatic performance diploma and even sang solo with the Downsview Symphony. Since this was my first performance in my hometown in a bit, I decided to pay homage to my roots. It was soooo fun.
Let me know if you like this side of me… maybe I will throw in a Carmen at my next show!
Okay here it is:
The Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness raises awareness about the true cost of neglect and abuse and supports over 130 organizations nationally, including children’s services, victims’ services, shelters and other agencies that deal with over 200,000 children, women and men whose lives have been affected by abuse. I love this song, Don’t Rain on My Parade, from the musical “Funny Girl”…. I feel like it exemplifies life. How many times have we had a dream or something we were excited about only to have someone poo poo it? Seriously, enough right?
If you have something inside you, you gotta do it and not let anyone rain your parade!
For anyone who knows my story, I grew up with life threatening illness and doctors didn’t even know if I would survive past my teenage years let alone be healthy enough to sing, dance and act. But I defied them and didn’t let ‘what they know’ rain on my parade. Which is why this is the kick off song on my first album of the same title.
Now you go and live your dreams… you deserve to shine your light baby!
Okay here I am singing it at one of the fundraisers I produced… Enjoy:

Miss Saigon was a musical based on Puccini’s opera “Madame Butterfly” about an American who falls in love with an Asian girl when he was on duty in her country. After the war is over, he returns to the US unknowing that he left her pregnant.
This song I am singing from this musical is called “Now that I’ve Seen Her” and I play the American wife who finds out about my husband’s previous life and his child.
This clip was taken from my Hollywood fund-raiser for the Red Carpet Dreaming Tour. Enjoy:

Last week I sang a wild and super fun fund-raiser in at LaBries in Glendale, CA for my friend Rachael. She is battling stage 4 cancer… and doing it beautifully, gracefully and brilliantly.
It was a real mixed bag of wonderful L.A. based artists from rap to R&B to comedy to Ms. Broadway baby here, me! All in celebration of life and what is possible.
Here I am singing “Blues in the Night” as made famous by Judy Garland, Peggy Lee, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney.

Bill McGowan, the author of Glitzbiz, was our warm and engaging interviewer.
L.A. Music Award Winner Kaylene Peoples with Rich Mouser on guitar, opened with a couple of electrifying jazz numbers followed by hysterical, fall on the floor funny comedy by Emmy-Award Winning Comedy Writer & National Headlining Comedian, Monica Piper. She is the master at empowering people to “Find the Funny.”
Then of course I took the stage to perform some of our most beloved Broadway tunes. In the opening number, I belted out “Don’t Rain on my Parade” as a reminder that we need to always follow our dreams, no matter what anyone else thinks… never allowing anyone to rain on our parade. Other highlights included Now that I’ve Seen Her from “Miss Saigon,” Nothing from “A Chorus Line” and Defying Gravity from Wicked. My encore piece was All I Ask of You from “Phantom of the Opera.”
I also had the wonderful opportunity to welcome to the stage, Pamela Clay, who is the director of our partner charity, Living Advantage. They do AMAZING work empowering foster youth to transition successfully into the adult world.
